There are two versions of OmmWriter available for the Mac OS X. The free version can help you focus on writing, and the paid version can help you focus on writing, too. However, there is a teeny bit of addition to the paid version which is available in the Mac App Store for $4.99.

Also, I was able to grab this copy for free as the magnanimous OmmWriter Team sent me the serial key and the download link to my email — and the reason being my Credit Card payment was declined; so they decided to send this nugget for free! Pretty cool, right?

I’ve tested OmmWriter on the latest Mac OS X Lion, and it works perfectly. After downloading and using OmmWriter for more than a day, one thing is for sure: this app will stay on the top of my deck of writing apps for a long time to come.
The ethereal background music and the sound effect OmmWriter delivers as you type from your keyboard is soothing. And the menu disappear as you write is another advantage that adds up for the distraction-free environment. My favorite feature is the clattering sound as I hit the keys. Like the Typewriter. Because of this, my productivity has shot up to a remarkably new level.
I can also change the background, switch to a new soundtrack and change the text size without sweating bullets. And the best part? Even the free OmmWriter app has all of these features.

Yes, you can’t format the text. You’ll not be able to add images. And you can’t publish your writing in one-click. Lastly, there’s no spell check. But I guess that’s what makes OmmWriter what it is today — very popular. The focus is on text. The more you write, the more your thoughts flow. And the more you can experiment.
Concentration is the key to writing, and OmmWriter helps you focus and foster creativity. After you have finished writing on OmmWriter, do whatever you want — copy to the Pages, export as PDF, or copy to word processing tool to ameliorate your long-winded text.
